Lying about VSG - What surgery can I say I had? :D
on 9/28/18 5:51 pm
Aw! I was actually thinking of saying I was going to repair a hernia
mainly because I'm very active in the church and will be missing a couple of weeks
I will say a little prayer for your surgery in January.
And with life expectancy being longer and longer with new technology, 66 is just a new chapter!
Good Luck!

Please don't judge. Just like anyone else there are some people I just don't want to tell.

No worries about anybody here judging, the Big Guy Upstairs is the one to worry about.

VSG 2013, RNY conversion 2019 due to GERD. Trendweight here!
I totally understand where you're coming from. I told my family, including siblings-in-law, and 2-3 close friends. I did NOT tell co-workers due to a few very gossipy people, including a couple loud mouths who are very vocal about WLS being the easy way out and people gaining all their weight back as they themselves keep losing and gaining the same 30-40 pounds. I had to have a hiatal hernia fixed during the VSG, so that's what I said. Then people at work saw me eating protein at lunch and shrinking quickly. I was under the microscope because everyone wants the magic bullet. I have lost 125 pounds, but I'm still not at goal. So many people say I look like a different person, but I am just a more healthy, more confident version of myself. I do tell people about tracking food on an app, going to the YMCA, and how no junk food and fixing my vitamin deficiencies have helped me so much. These are people who only need to lose 30-40 pounds. When the morbidly obese people like I was ask with desperation in their eyes, I have decided to tell the truth, but I ask them to keep it confidential and why I want privacy. Two others have had VSG with my doctor, and they feel the same way so I'm glad I shared the truth. It's good to have 3 of us sleeve sisters at work. It's changed our lives for the better, and we keep each other on track when weight loss invariably slows down. I wish you the very best. This is one of the best decisions I've made in my life.

Thank you
its good to have someone understand you
Asians just don't do bariatric surgery. We are supposed to be naturally slim, and they don't understand. Only my immediate family know, but no one else. I'd like to keep it that way. My goal is to lose about 75lbs
thabk you for your support.
