Gas pressure, air bubbles, pain
I am just one day out from surgery. I went in yesterday and was released around 4pm. I am suffering from major gas build-up in my abdomen. Very uncomfortable. I have walked and walked, but it doesn't seem to be alleviating the bubbles and pressure. Once home I took an OTC gas-x brand soft capsule. Any ideas on how to get release from this pressure/pain build up? I am havinging difficulty taking even the tiniest sips of water.
Unfortunately movement and time are the only things that help. I had it pretty bad too. I don't even think gas-x helped. It should get a little better each day.
It can last a while I'm a week out with still some gas pain but trust me when I say walk walk and walk some more it will help a lot.

Get a hold of your surgeon's office and have them call in a script for you! Mine had me take one from day one and I never had any issues with gas (knock on wood) So, give them a call and see what they can do for you.

Walking and drinking are the best things you can do right now. It just takes a while. You had major surgery just one day ago!
Because this is from the gas they used to inflate you for the surgery, gas-x and other digestible solutions won't help. It just takes a while for the gas to go away.
You'll do fine. Recovery takes a while, that's all.

Not sure why they edited "pushed" out, but anyway today has been better. I have finally had a BM and I think that stuff is starting to move around a bit more, thankfully. I am still struggling to get even close to my fluid intake. I've had about 16 ounces of water, 3 ounces of protien shake watered down with 3 oz of water and two sugar free popsicles. I feel like I just get spasms so bad after any intake, and I am being super careful not to gulp but just take baby sips. But all in all, today was definitely better then yesterday. So there's hope for tomorrow to be even better!
If you can bend from the waist and get your head at your knees or lower, even for a few seconds will help. I also get some relief by using baking soda in water.
Another gas moving trick a nurse showed me is lying in bed and putting your head and upper body down toward the floor. Be careful if you do that.
It is extremely painful and I am sorry you are going through that.
