Scale NOT Moving
Thank you all for your responses! It's so nice having people who understand and have some answers (suggestions?)
I think I might not be drinking enough water (I used to drink SO much water but after surgery it's become much harder to remember and to not feel so full right after)
As far as food goes a typical day looks like:
- Breakfast: Coffee with a smidge of Skim Milk and equal, 1 egg scrambled, 1T of low-fat Shredded Mozzarella -OR- 1/2 Cup low-fat Cottage Cheese
- Lunch: 1/4 Cup Tunafish with low-fat mayo and celery sticks -OR- 1/2 of Healthy Choice Power Bowl
- Dinner: 3 Small Turkey Meatballs with 1/4 Cup side of Spinach -OR- 1 Chicken Sausage Link with 1/2 Cup Broccoli
maybe I am doing it wrong? But I genuinely thought I was doing well with my food choices. Also, I've stated to think of doing Keto because I wanted to make smarter food choices (low carb) and hopefully find that I am more successful that way.
Thoughts?
Not getting in enough liquid can definitely impact your weight loss! Setting a timer after you eat to remind you to start drinking again is a great tactic.
I checked the nutritional information for a few of the Healthy Choice Power Bowls, and I wouldn't choose to eat them. I look for items that have at least 1 gram of protein for every 10 calories. The ones I looked at were 310 calories and only about 23 grams of protein. I'd need 31 grams of protein for 310 calories.
As for the low-fat mayo, oftentimes fat is replaced with sugar so a product will still taste good. I recommend using regular mayo if you're going to use it.
Otherwise, I can't see much wrong with how you're eating.

The general guidelines we see tossed around for the weight-loss phase are 600 - 800 calories, 60 - 80g protein (or more), and under 25g carbs. I know I didn't reach 600 calories until a few months in!
A lot of people stick to fewer than 800 calories while losing.
But.. you're not going to starve, so barely reaching 600 isn't a problem. Focus on reaching your liquid goal (minimum 64 ounces) and protein (60-80 grams).

The whole "starvation mode" thing is totally a myth that, sadly, keeps getting perpetuated.

Right. I definitely need to refocus on water.
However, I ask about th calories because I keep reading that if you don't "get enough calories" you stop losing weight.
But 800 calories seems right.
"if you don't get enough calories you stop losing" is bunk. If you don't get enough calories your body is going to break down your stored fat for energy. Burning stored fat causes weight loss.
Mad long as you are obese and have fat to burn you don't have to worry about calories.
You can no longer go by " what you read" because those of us who have had WLS are not like ppl who have not had WLS.
I was prescribed 90 grams protein, Carbs to be between 20-50, for loss was to keep below 30... and low fat( surgery I had requires low fat for life.)..do not tolerate any regular fat products...not even accidently.
.. for example i buy only home-made low fat sausage. I slice it place it in a pan with water and boil til done, then put in a dry skillet and brown. and press beween paper towel folds..any remaining fat. .low fat mayo and used sparingly...1/2 tsp on lettuce for a sandwich.( lettuce as bread.) mustard is a better choice if you can stomach it..
to get both protein and liquids in, I was prescribed a high protein powder..and i put it in sugar free hot coco..w/5 oz water.gave me 5 oz liquids and 20 gm protein...think complete calorie on it was 100 ..that way i could boost both at same time and warm liquids move down faster than cold. so good to start motility with before you need to stop drinking for your meal..
