Still do not have my surgery date ?
Why do you have to have the sleeve?

Why is VSG preferred? You're not supposed to take NSAIDs after any type of weight loss surgery.

You need to be your own best advocate. Question everything. Understand everything. Do not "just go by" what someone, even a medical professional, tells you without understanding why.
WLS, and life in general, aren't things that just happen to you. Be involved.

Hi, I'm concerned that you repeatedly say you do not want VSG, that you feel you have no choice. YOU do have a choice, you do not have to have this surgery. It also may help your rheumatoid arthritis to lose some weight and I do not know, what I know is my sister is of normal (not even overweight) and has rheumatoid arthritis so not sure if weight loss will help?
I have no idea how overweight you are, or if you have any other comorbidity but all of that affects your insurance approval. I would say since you had the visit on Aug. 21st it hasn't been enough time to get results, or from what I know it takes a good 2-weeks and sometimes a bit more. Your surgical team had to get the request together AFTER your last visit so that may add a couple days on it also.
Just remember, you do NOT HAVE TO HAVE A VSG... if you do not feel good about it then do not do it! It is a tool and only a tool you will have to work to make it work. Either way you decide to go, I wish you the best.

I do not see where I say repeatedly that I do not want the VSG. What I am saying is that I thought I was going to have the R&Y, but because of my RA, I must have the VSG. I want this surgery and I am overweight and yes it will help. Also, I am not taking any meds for my RA until after my surgery and with direction from my surgeon.
It's ok that I am having the VSG but I was just a bit disappointed. Also, I am in Ontario, Canada whereby this surgery is paid by our OHIP.
I just want to know when my surgery will be as I am the legal field and need to adjourn or reschedule court dates.
Thanks
JJ

The folks in the Ontario forum may be able to help you figure out an estimate of how long things will take.
