Cream of wheat might be good practice food to get your system going, I was surprised at how nutritionally devoid (not a lot of vitamins or even fiber) it was. It's up to you and your doc, but if I was going to have those carbs, I'd at least want some nutrition. Have you tried skyrr? It's similar to Greek yogurt, but I like the taste and texture a lot more. You could even get plain and mix it with a small amount of no sugar added apple sauce and cinnamon.

what diet stage are you on? Are we you still on liquids? I didn't rely on broth or soups too much. But I did use broth to purée down chicken and veggies when I got to puréed stage.

Im on full liquids for 2 weeks. Is hard because broth is so boring. I've had greek yogurt. I have to try skyrr. And i have no idea what else to eat. Yesterday I even had some beans. About a quarter cup.

Your fluids post surgery will fluctuate along with your weight; however, if you are supposed to be on full liquids for 2 weeks, regardless of being bored with broth, you are not allowing your stomach to heal, nor are you "working" the tool the way your physician recommends.

Cream of wheat is a carb -- 1-cup serving of cooked Cream of Wheat cereal contains 126 calories, 3.5 grams of protein, 0.5 grams of fat, 26.5 grams of carbohydrates, 1.5 grams of fiber and no sugar.

At 11 months, at goal and working at maintenance, I have 88 grams of protein, 33 grams fat, and 88 grams of carbohydrates.

If you added any milk product, or flavor to your cream of wheat, that would add more carbs.

Early on its protein, liquids, vegetables and then if you have room or calories left, dense healthy carb like whole wheat bread....

Not fussing, just sharing.

There is nothing healthy about whole wheat bread. Its just empty calories. And early on its a terrible choice.

Beans are NOT a "full liquid." If you advance your diet too quickly, a too-solid food can literally rip apart your staple line and kill you.

Broth is boring, but it will keep you alive.

Protein shakes, sugar free popsicles or pudding. Did your doc or not give you a menu?

Its just a few days. Keep going and stay on plan and it will work itself out.

He did. He was very specific as well. I made a mistake. I wanted something else. And I do feel horrible for it. Because I know Im putting myself at risk.

Don't waste time and energy feeling horrible for one mistake. You didn't hurt yourself. A lot of diet progression plans vary. But your best bet is follow what your doc wants. Your diet will be less boring soon. Just a few more days.
