Sleep is very important to healing and weight loss. I found that by day 5 I was able to get 64oz of fluids in, and I didn't have to sacrifice rest. Just lots of sips all day long. Protein shakes count. Please rest!

how about sugar free pops - or just sip all day and keep water by your side. Also I don't believe you are supposed to use a straw (I know you didn't say you were)- although I was never told that, but you may want to be careful. Apparently it can cause excess gas.

Straws are pretty individual. For some people they increase gas, for others they decrease it. I guess it depends on how you drink! I'm not sure why so many plans forbid them, since they're super useful for a lot of people.

I think I've said this before, but I've walked into my surgeon's office drinking iced tea from Starbucks through a straw and he doesn't even blink, even though his materials say "no straws." I find it helps me drink more. You may want to try it.

Why do you think you need that much time to get your fluids in? 1oz every ten minutes should take about 10.5 hours.

I was taking in 5 oz I get so full. I would drink 2hrs later, it took me 3hrs to drink 16 oz bottled water. I'm thinking it will get better since I'm 4 days post op.

Smaller amounts more frequently will get you there sooner. Large amounts stretch your pouch...so not good! cut the amount in half no more than 3 oz. .It will get better as your edema inside subsides... be careful not to overfill in the first weeks. it can do permanent damage.!You do not have all nerves working right in there... stomach has been cut.so you MUST measure, and limit your fullness mechanically.
