Question for Julie SparklyKitty

First of all, I hope you stay here at OH. You're a very valuable resource here and I do appreciate you.
I sincerely apologize if I've ever called you a name. I've always taught my kids that they can comment on behavior, but that they never call anyone names. Again, I apologize if I did that to you.
Now for my question that I know you can answer.
I bought these "protein shots" so I can bump up my protein when needed.
They look good to me, but I'd like your opinion on them, please. 72 calories for 18 g of protein seems like a really good deal to me.
Thanks. Seriously.

Also, whoever it was that recommended the Syntrax Fuzzy Navel protein (Gwen?) THANK YOU!
It's currently my favorite, and I've been throwing in a couple of slices of fresh peach in it too. drool worthy!
Glad you're enjoying the powder. Adding fruit isn't a great idea though, as it's pretty much pure sugar and won't help you reach your goals.

These typically have poorly absorbed protein. We should stick to whey protein isolate as much as possible. If you do use them, I would suggest only counting 1/3 the protein.

Thanks, TL.
Protein "shots" like these are generally collagen protein, and this is no different:
A: The protein source used for Proteinex® comes lean part of the porcine (skin). (Source)
Collagen is not absorbed very well and doesn't have the same effective benefit as other types. So while the package says you're getting 18g, your body is actually receiving far less than that. You're much better off going with whey or soy proteins, or going straight for lean meat or dairy.

Thanks.
Pig collagen, huh? Ick. I don't like pork rinds either.
It wasn't very pleasant to gag down...I definitely won't be getting more of it.
I think I'll stick to the Syntrax.
I agree with TL. We need you and trust you!

For me it's the idea that it's made out of the skin.
The rest of the pig I am all about it! (well, mostly - I saw some pig parts in Thailand that should have turned me off on all things porcine forever!)
