Pre-op Appointment Question!

How long after your pre-op appointment was your surgery scheduled for?

My pre-op appointment is June 28 and I'm wondering how soon after that I'll have surgery! I feel like it's going to be like another month out!! :,( Everything's already been approved and the nurse told me to start my pre-op diet when she called me on June 11 to schedule my pre-op appointment. So I'm currently on day 3 of my pre-op diet with no surgery date. Supposedly I was only suppose to be on a 2 week pre-op diet but considering my appointment to even schedule surgery is further out than two weeks looks like I'll be on it for much longer :/

p.s. is the pre-op appointment anything other than picking a surgery date and signing consent forms?

I already had a surgery day scheduled when I had my final pre-op appointment, so your post makes me think that all pre-op appointments are different. I'd recommend calling your surgeon's office and asking!

I was the same as Gwen. I had my surgery date and my other appointments, including my pre-op with my surgeon, were set based on that date. I'm sure your surgeon's office can give you some idea. Good luck!

My surgery was 2 days after the pre-op appointment.

have you had an Egd or sleep study and any tests your surgeon/ insurance requires?

Yep! I've done all my requirements and my insurance approved everything. Apparently this seems kinda odd that I don't have a surgery date ?????

Hello! No idea what the actual appointment consists since I haven't gone to it yet so I'm no help there.

Like the others who've posted all of my pre op appointments were scheduled at the same time as my surgery so I would definitely call if you know you've been approved. That seems odd to me but it could just be an oversight or your surgeon isn't available in the same month.

For me though my Egd is on July 12th, my gallbladder US and Pre op appointment are on July 17th (day before my 22nd Bday! ?), and my surgery date is July 23rd.

My surgery is one week after pre op appointment. If you have testing done at your pre-op. I would not imagine your surgery would be more than two weeks later, especially if you had blood work. If it's longer, you would likely have to repeat it.
