Weight gain

I'm 8 years out and because of bad habits I've gained most of my weight back. I'm back to a pre surgery diet. Any one else able to lose the weight again on their own? I'm telling you, when they suggest not drinking sodas, not drinking with meals, and all the other things just do them. Make them a part of a new lifestyle because the sleeve worked for many years without me following the rules but it caught up with me.

If you're doing primarily liquids as a "pre surgery diet," that's not going to get you very far. It's not sustainable in the long term! Your best bet is to get back to the habits you developed soon after surgery-- lean, dense protein and few carbs.

If you want to do a "diet reset" to help get your head in the game, try doing AMAW (all meat all week) for a few days. It's a great way to beat the carb cravings and remind yourself of the full feeling you get when you eat protein!

Yes I'm lowering my calories and eating mostly protein. I'm trying to be sensical with it because I want it to be long term. So I guess it's more post op diet with 800-1200 calories with walking 20-30 min a day. Thanks for the input!

I agree with the above poster- 125 regain here. As of today it has taken a year to (re-)lose 119 of it, and I am 6# from regaining (no pun intended) my goal weight of 150.

In my opinion (and experience), you must choose a plan of action that you can stick with day in-day out. I do not know how large your gain was, but, if it is significant, you will have to be consistent-No days off--no celebrations- no cheat days- no "I'll start again on Monday". You're just spinning your wheels if you do so which means loosing the same 5 pounds over and over ad-nausium, get frustrated and give up.

Back to the basics- you know the dance- liquids, protein forward, log food, cut the simple carbs (detox now--painful, I know, but once they are out of your system, they will not torture your mind as much--a little here, a little there will simply prolong the cravings.

One thing I did do (that is related to early WLS eating) this last year is have a protein shake for breakfast every work day. It set my attitude and focus in the right place, established structure and routine in addition to the 25 g. Protein

Thank you. Loosing this time around was-is a very intentional effort--polar opposite mindset from the thoughtless, mindless processe of gaining.

I need to kiss your ass again. I've lost 36 lbs since Jan 1 (6 lbs to go) and you are my hero and inspiration for losing your regain. We see so many people contemplating revision because they've regained 50lbs, yet here you are, showing us ALL how it's done!

So proud of you, Bonnie!! Too many people think the surgery is magic and that regain won't happen to them. It is a reality for many of us. Thank you for sharing your story and letting us know we CAN lose it again!!
