CIPRO?
I don't think that Cipro is contradicted with VSG and you can stop your calcium for a few days to accommodate treating an acute infection. Cipro is a strong antibiotic and many people react to it poorly (myself included), but I'd say if you have side effects it has nothing to do with your surgery.

I read to not take multi or calcium 6 hours before or 2 hours after. It's a broad spectrum antibiotic and may upset your stomach. Food before maybe helpful. Also make sure to finish the course. Many folks stop taking mid way when they feel better. This is how we create resistant bugs that are difficult to get rid of the next time.

I would stay away from Cipro completely. It was developed to fight anthrax and the effects of it can be life-changing, and not in a good way. I actually know a couple people who will suffer for the rest of their lives because of it.
Here's an article about it. There are many, many more.
