6 Years Out

Just checking in after many years of being away from this forum. I lost a total of 160 lbs after surgery. I gained back ten over the years, but I have maintained a steady loss of 150. So - it is what you make it. You could gain it back, sure - but it's all up to you and what you really want. No - I'm not skinny. Never will be, never was. But I am now comfortable in my own skin. I can fit in an airplane seat. I can go to a restaurant and not worry about whether or not the seats will hold my weight - or whether I can fit in the booth. I can buy clothes in the store instead of on-line. My constant heartburn is gone. I can walk without being out of breath and in miserable pain from aching joints. I can go to a movie theatre and fit in the seats. Or go to a play or a musical and fit in the seats. I can tie my shoes. I can actually buy cute clothes instead of just whatever fits. Life is just good. Best decision I ever made.

Awesome job with maintenance! For people like me who are just beginning to maintain, could you elaborate on your eating and lifestyle habits a bit? Are there habits that you credit to being successful in maintenance? A gain of 10lbs over 10 years is far below the average of 4lbs per year - you are doing really great. Did you have plastic surgery?

Thanks!

Great to hear a success story and very sensible. Mahalo for sharing your experience. One question regarding restriction. Did yours go away or do you still have it and if so to what degree?

I'm almost 4 years post-op (13 days!) and I definitely still have restriction.
