My surgeon (VSG) advised me that any pill smaller than an M&M could safely be taken starting the day after surgery. The only things I had bigger than that were optional supplements, and I just didn't take them until I was on soft foods, which is when my surgeon said it was OK to take anything I could comfortably swallow.

As others have said, your surgeon is the one to say yay or nay.
