I'm happy to hear that you are over the "hump" and are feeling positive.

My plan was to start with walking, but I can't tolerate the cold since surgery and treadmills are my idea of hell. So now that I'm 6 weeks post-op, tonight I will start swimming and truing some light weights.

Lolololol. I have one in the basement collecting dust as we speak. It is boring!!!! I may knock the dust off just because it is so convenient. Thanks so much! Feeling a ton better.

Glad to see the good improvements you are having. For me I only walked for the first six weeks or so then I started to add in weights and yoga. I have the Bob Harper Biggest Loser Weight Loss Yoga DVD and I really like it and like that I could do it in my own home.

Had VSG on 9/28/15

Lost 161 lbs since surgery, LOST 221 lbs overall so far!!

Thanks so much. I think I'll start with walking and light weights as well. I know I'll have to take it slow due to my back issues.

I'm so glad to hear you are doing better.

I sympathize with the weight "gain". I got home from the hospital and didn't weigh until 7 days later, but was still 2 pounds over my surgery weight. (I also have severe lymphadema so I know it was fluid retention). Keeping this in mind will definitely benefit those who will have surgery soon. The scale LIES! LOL (not to mention that not having a BM for an extended period also camouflages any weight loss).

Since I am still in a wheelchair, I started chair exercises at 4 weeks. Very light arm exercises. I also started to use the chair less in the house. My goal now is 1000 steps a day. I've hit it twice. It is a huge increase from my previous steps which was less than 100/day. Everyone has to start somewhere.

(Edited to add exercise info.)

Glad to hear things are improving - they will continue :) You are doing well

I didnt start exercising till a few months out mainly due to needing a knee replacement - Orth Surgeon had told me I am only allowed to ride a stationery bike or swim. Well 4 months out I am walking for 15-25 mins each lunchtime with rare pain. So happy about that :) A far cry from being woken up by the pain during the night - or ending up in a pile of the floor when it gave way. The excess weight I have dropped so far has taken a lot of the pressure off my knee - so life is good. Hoping to delay the reconstruction till I am way older

I think the main thing to look at is - listen to your body. Let it guide you as to what feels comfortable and isnt hurting. As the others have mentioned you will be on weight restrictions for a period of time. I followed these to the letter as there was no way I was going to risk damaging my new tummy.

:)

That is awesome!! Very happy for you. I know about pain, and it is no fun. I can't wait to feel some relief also. I had the mobility of an eighty year old. I will definitely take it easy. You're right about not wanting to damage my surgery!

So happy for you that you're on the mend! MOM was a lifesaver- learned that after my 1st c-section. Liquid tastes repulsive, I'd opt for the pill if it works just as well. Was on miralax & benefiber for 1 week, now i take miralax every day, & I'm good. I've been waking since day 1. I'd like to start yoga as soon as i find a class I feel comfortable in.
