I think that would be lovely :) I like the idea of other people picking books. I think the idea with the club I mentioned is that people get inspired to read the other books people are reading, which I can totally understand too. Sometimes I really just want to get together with other readers and talk about what we're reading, if you know what I mean?

How do you decide who picks the books and who hosts the meetings?

And I think this should be a QOTD every so often. Maybe every other week for those of us who don't have time to read! "What are you reading and tell us why we should read it too?" :D

My mom recently read a book called "Rust" which was about, you guessed it, rust. She works for a civil engineering firm so rust is an important issue and one of her co-workers recommended it to her. She said it was a ridiculously fascinating book... about rust. WTF. (She said wtf about this. Like... who would think a book about rust would be fascinating?) But now I want to read it too :P

Good morning all... It was so great to meet Liz yesterday at the conference! It made the second day a lot more fun. And as she said the speakers were terrific. I also met a woman who is my friend on MyFitnessPal so that was nice too.

I think my favorite speaker was Kristin Lloyd who is a psychologist who not only works with WLS people, but has had WLS herself. She talked about strategies to stay motivated and she was awesome. I hope it's okay to share here, but her book in Kindle format is free on Amazon until October 31 and covers all the same topics as her talk. It's called Bariatric Mindset Success: Live Your Best Life and Keep the Weight Off After Weight Loss Surgery.

QOTD: I was never a joiner, but made a concerted effort to do so to make friends a few years ago. I am in a book club, a knitting group, and joined a hiking Meetup. I highly recommend putting yourself out there to make friends if you have the time! Some of my closest friends have come from those groups.

B - coffee and yogurt

L - leftover sushi

D - new recipe with chicken thighs, dried figs, and olives. I found it on Pinterest.

S - protein pudding

Good morning! It's gloomy, damp and cold here as well today. So glad I took advantage of the good weather yesterday got another great hike in
. It was warm, sunny and the Tamarack trees were in their full glory:-) I have a few things planned for the day. Going to shampoo the carpet in the computer room(I spilled coffee) and take my mom to our new Home Goods store and maybe Costco.

QOTD-I have to force myself to join groups, it takes me a long time to feel comfortable. I like groups that don't require a lot of small talk, just getting down to business right away:-) I have my Maj Jong and Bunko group and am very active in my state and local political party. I want to join a book club and our local organic gardening club, but haven't got my nerve up to do that yet.

B-1 pc sprouted grain bread w/almond butter, 1/2 apple

L-PP shake-banana cream

S-Chai tea and some kind of protein

D-Leftover chicken soup

E-Not sure today

Edited to add-Emmy with Halloween scarf:-)

Hello all,

It's a typical prairie fall days. We've had sunshine, hail, snow, wind and then sunshine again. Not, no clouds to be seen. Yesterday we broke a record and hit 75F, today barely hit 40F. Normal for us.

I am 10 days post-op and still dealing with swelling but happy to be over that first week. Also, off the perco's and onto T3's. NOT the same. But then again, the goal is to be off T3s and living IRL by next weekend so I cannot complain. Also, back to VSG eating after 9 days of feeding pain, cravings and feeling pretty damn poopy with McDonald's, Wendys, KFC. BTW: Tried a wendy's baked potato for the first time - liked it way better than fries, but I digress.

B: Coffee with ff creamer/sugar, HB egg, 1 slice swiss, 1 slice deli turkey, 4 no sodium crackers

L: protein shake: almond milk, Syntrax caramel macchiato, raspberries, plain greek yogurt and flax meal

S: 1 slice swiss cheese, 1 slice deli turkey, 1 HB egg

D: mcdonald's side garden salad no dressing, 2 babybel swiss and americano with milk/splenda

QOTD: I belong to a book club but we haven't met for several months due to scheduling conflicts and most of the women being busy, amazing teachers. I also volunteer quite a bit for the Cdn Cancer Society which isn't a club per se but I usually heed any calls they put out for volunteers so it keeps me busy. Love and miss the book club, sigh. Our very first read was "Big Little Lies" which was amazing (and better than the tv show) and a few other favorite reads:

"The Witches of New York",

"The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper"

"The Golden Son"

"Yellow Crocus"

"The Pearl that Broke It's Shell"

Take care, all!

A sunny Sunday here in mid-Missouri. Despite the thermometer dipping to 26 last night, it got up to 60 today so was good. Got out and enjoyed the day a little.

QOTD: I don't belong to any group, I'm not much of a joiner. I love the idea of book groups, but I'm not someone who looks for deep meaning or any of that stuff in what I read, I just like to enjoy the story. I actually read a series of books about women who meet at a library to discuss books! I love Gwen's idea of telling what we're reading every couple of weeks!

M1: Yucky backup yogurt (I was out of Dannon) w/sunbutter and Fiber One, coffee w/H&H and xylitol

M2: Super yummy new recipe, Keto Chili Dog Pot Pie Casserole. A little higher in calories but since we eat so little, it's nice for a change, but very low carb. The almond flour based "biscuit" topping was delish!

M3: No idea, probably some turkey snack sticks and cheese sticks...something light, that casserole was filling!

Water and vites on track
