Staying at goal so far
I had my VSG surgery on Dec 2, 2015 and reached my goal in exactly 10 months (oct 2, 2016) I wasn't at my heaviest weight at the time of my surgery. I make sure and stress the "So far" because anytime I have ever started to think I know it all, I messed up bad. I weigh everyday to make sure how any dietary changes are effecting my weight. It constantly fluctuates up and down a pound or two. This tool (my vsg) has made it possible to stay at a healthy weight. I'm learning that for me maintaining my weight is almost exactly like dieting. I have to be very careful about what I eat about 98% of the time. I'm so grateful for this surgery and for OH.

Wonderful! Keep posting. I hope I do as well as you with both loss and maintenance.
Hi Renren,
You are doing great, and you have a good strategy for maintenance. Keep up the good work!
My experience with maintenance is similar. For me, maintenance is just like dieting - with a few more calories and a little more flexibility to cheat once and a while. but its watching what I eat every day, knowing that it would be extremely easy to gain the weight back. In fact, I broke my arm last spring and I gained 20 pounds in 20 weeks. And I wasn't binge-eating. I was just eating a little more every day. I'm about half way back to my goal weight, and I know I can do it, but it takes effort and commitment every day.
when I get discouraged, I remember how it was to be heavy and how helpless I felt. Thank goodness for weight loss surgery. Its clear to me why my weight loss team used to say that the sleeve is only a tool. It takes hard work and commitment to manage obesity. But the sleeve made it possible.
Best wishes,
Carol
