Not sure about BC but in Alberta you must present with BMI of at least 35 plus at least 2 co-morbidities. Physician referral required, too.
Surgery: April 30, 2014: HW: 288 SW: 250 Achieved Goal 149 lbs: April 8, 2015 CW: 158 lbs (working on losing 65 lb regain as of June 1, 2021. Weight was at 215 lbs). Fighting every darn day!
So I get a referral from my GP, then search for a surgeon first? As in before I get insureance coverage? BC MSP , it's not a private company .
Still confused lol is there a form I fill out, where and who does it go to?
A I know is I need a dr referral but is that for a surgeon ? Does every referral get accepted?or is that where the qualifications Requirements come In place? Then once I'm on a wait list, thats when I apply for coverage?
i e heard that they almost always denye u at first to see if ur serious but def apply second or third time.
how long was your guys wait list times?
tha m u so much for replying to me
I assume you want this done in Canada? The process is much different there than in the US.
From what I understand, RNY is always done in Canada, unless your doctors determine that RNY can't be done for medical reasons, but the sleeve can. So you may not have a choice.
But I don't know a lot of how you'd go about it. There are Canadian forums here on OH, and you should ask there. Otherwise, most of tge answers you get will be geared to US patients and our insurance system.
