fighting food cravings...
I am pre-op liquid diet and REALLY fighting the cravings for food...even healthier low calorie foods. How did you all curb the cravings?
Honestly the pre-op liquid diet was one of the hardest parts of going thru gastric surgery. My surgeon allowed 2 cups of steamed green vegetables a day which helped when I was just desperate to chew something. However stick to what your surgeons plan is, it really is for only a short time in the scheme of things and will be soooo worth it.
Keep yourself busy and reward yourself for getting thru each day - ie buy yourself a new book, and remember you can't eat if you are having a bath or swimming!
You've got this - the first few days are the worst but it will be worth it.
Pre-op was the hardest thing for me, and my surgeon didn't even really do much of a pre-op diet... it was basically the SlimFast plan with better quality shakes. LOL. It's tough, but just gut through it, because once you're on the other side, it'll be worth it!!

since starting the program in February I am down 42 pounds and i still have to weigh in on Tuesday when I go in for surgery. i'm excited but with each day that passes i get more and more nervous!!!!! Thanks for the encouragement and response. :)
The liquid diet just sucks. I wish I had some awesome words to tell you, but, honestly, nope, it just sucks and those of us who have to do it pre-op just have to suffer through it :P
But it gets better after the first 3-4 days, so there is that. Then, for me at least, it just became a matter of boredom with liquids.
Focus on your goal. Focus on the reasons you're doing this. Try to keep as busy as possible. Use this time to start the work to get your head sorted out since the surgery only operates on your stomach.
You CAN do it.
And try other liquids - SF popsicles, broth.. try everything you're allowed and maybe something will scratch that itch. (Except jello. Jello is just gross.) ;)

I am doing sooooo much better, today is day 19 and I am two days from surgery!!!!! I have tried all of the things on the list and i find that the thing that satisfies my craving for actual food is the low sodium beef broth. Probably because it smells like actual food. HAHAHA! :) I'm excited to start the next leg of the journey already! Thanks for the encouragement and the response I greatly appreciate it!!!!!
I am with you surgery Date 7/6/17 and currently fighting through it!!!! I am drinking water as much as possible. My 1st shake at 930 and second at 12:30pm and I drink water, water, water and than my protein and veggies.
WOW Congratulations on your surgery, mine is July 11, 2017. My plan doesn't allow veggies it's strictly liquids and yogurt. protein shakes, propel or G2 gatorade, broth, sugar free jello. I'm excited and SUPER NERVOUS!!!!! I know that this liquid diet is worth it but man do i miss eating actual food. :) Best of luck with your post surgery journey! And thanks for the response!
You are almost there!!! I am walking, sipping water and healing!!! You are going to do well.
