Calcium

I started to take calcium with vitamin d today, for the first time. These are huge and you take 2 at a time. Did this bother anyone's stomach? I was going for chewable but I wanted to have citrate, and the chewable varieties do t seem to be made of that. I still have my chewable bariatric vitamins but the flavor is nasty, and I don't want to be limited to them. Before surgery I took Costco multivitamins every day. But these huge hard vitamins seem to bother me at least.

Ai had the same issue. Buy a pill cutter and cut them in half. They're still clunky but I can get them down that way.

I'm also a big fan of the Celebrate Calcium Citrate Chews w/Vit D. I like the chocolate...3x a day I get a little chocolate fudgy treat! I used to use the Bariatric Advantage brand, but I can get the Celebrate for almost $10 per 90 chews less on Amazon. I have Amazon Prime, so it's great for me, like getting free shipping because it's already paid for itself this year.

I pay $31/month, which seemed high at first, but then I just started to look at it as another "prescription" that I needed to have. Then it didn't seem so expensive lol. Plus, I used to spend that much on ordering pizza a couple of times a month!

If you don't use a pill splitter, try the Citrical Petites. Also, check with your nut about taking two at a time. Mine has me taking 1 tablet, 4x's a day. Something about not taking more than 500 mg at a time.

As for chewable vitamins, from what I've read on this site and from my own experience, they're all nasty! Until I could swallow a vitamin, I was told by my dr & the nut, that I could take a double dose of The Flintstones Chewables. Now you're going to hear an outcry from others on this site. REMEMBER......use of these are TEMPORARY. It's better to take something rather than nothing & serves to get you into the habit of taking vitamins.

GOOD LUCK!

Getting into the WRONG habit got us onto the operating table. This is our last chance to make new, good habits with a clean start. Why screw that up?

Besides, the question is about calcium. Flintstones are not calcium.

"......I still have my chewable bariatric vitamins but the flavor is nasty, and I don't want to be limited to them."

Doyenne's post also makes comment regarding the nasty taste of chewable bariatric vitamins. My comment regarding Flinstone vitamins, as indicated, was just a suggestion for a TEMPORARY solution of a way to get into the habit of taking a vitamin until she finds one she can either tolerate or swallow. Perhaps, what I should have prefaced this with is that one should first check with their healthcare provider.

I get my chewable vitamins through a prescription and they also have reasonable sized tablets/capsules. It is Calcium Citrate. The B-12 is a nasal spray taken once a week. The vitamins taste pretty good to me. They are fruit and berry flavored. They are delivered every 28 days and I only pay $15 (with insurance) so it's very convenient.

If you google "nutrition direct" it will come up
