Heck, those same regulars rarely comment on anything I post, unless its to throw shade or be condescending to me. God forbid I post a progress update about something fantastic, they cant say "good job!"

You do, and I appreciate it.

Yep. Seems that being a "regular" entitles you to be as snarky as you want...

I have noticed that too! People can be VERY rude and condescending...we are all on this journey, and just because someone got vsg before me doesn't make them end all be all. With that there are lot's of people one here who are nice and helpful but I think its the tone that is distasteful!

It's always amusing when someone who doesn't post complains about forum inactivity. Where have you been?

Forums aren't super popular in general these days. Just like Livejournal and other sites that fall by the wayside. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter... these are the sites that currently rule the internet.

I appreciate this place because I miss the days of forums. The fact that Facebook is IN my face all the time and this place I can come to and read a couple times per day and it's fine. I joined one of the Bariatric groups on Facebook and GOOD LORD.

Seriously. Those groups are horrible.

I do get annoyed with the repeated posts here, but there it's so much worse because you can't really even search nicely in a group with 20,000 people! Plus, all the answers are so off base. Yes, of course, eat your potatoes and corn 3 weeks out from surgery it's fine!

I don't find myself too bothered with the repeated posts here, but I understand the why people are. There are a ton of them after all! And OH's search feature is suboptimal :(

I was just noticing yesterday about how I've seen your post with the 10 bullet points that you use to respond when people ask how to get back on track... Which is about every day or two? But you always answer with that really good advice. I know when I start questioning myself where to go look!

Agree on the challenges with search. I usually do a search before launching a new topic, but haven't had huge amounts of success with those searches.

Haha, thanks. I have my basics in a text file on my desktop so I can copy-paste them easily. Sometimes I think I should have other things in that text file as well!

But.. I valued the help I got here so much and I STILL value the help I get, because it's not like I'm beyond needing help. In my pre-op months I actually read through the entire backlog of posts here. (Just the VSG and RNY forums.) Because I needed to know what I was getting in to.

So I'd like to think that, in a small way, I can pay it forward. :)

I like this better than fb because I can be pseudo anonymous. I'm not telling very many people about my surgery so fb would be way too public for me- too much "you're taking the easy way out" and " are you sure you want to do this". No judgement here because we are all in the same boat!
