Hello everyone I just had VSG on Monday 5/15/17. I am a tad sore which is to be expected. On a personal note, how long till I can expect the first BM? My system was pretty clear from liquid diet before surgery and was extended a week, do to an emergency from my surgeon. Just worried and wondering what to expect. Thank you for any help and advice.
Congrats on the surgery. Sounds like everything went well.
Everyone is different...I was told if it takes longer than a week to contact your surgeon. I was prescribed stool softners which I'm sure helped my situation. It was 3 days after surgery I believe.

It took me a week to have my first BM. I had to take milk of mag for 24 hours to get things moving. If you have been on narcotic pain killers, that's a factor.
Don't let it get past a week. And don't take a fiber supplement until you go. Taking fiber while you are already constipated will just make things worse.

Highest weight was 475. RNY on 08/21/12. Current weight: 198.

I'd recommend adding miralax to one of your shakes. Staying ahead of constipating is super important.
