Upcoming VSG. Having second thoughts.
My reversal of failed rny and hiatal hernia surgery is scheduled for June 1st and my sleeve surgery is scheduled for August 1st same surgeon for both. I need lots of moral support and friends who have and are going through similar or WLS to help and I me through all this. My doctor is Dr.Peter Billing from Eviva in WA State.
Help please and the I can do the same.
I'm 65 years old, arthritis, blood clots disorders and the doctor said I am one of his most interesting and challenging patients after thousands of surgeries.
I guess I'll feel honored??

I was a little nervous before my surgery. My wife's best friend, who had VSG a year prior was a lot of help. She was a lot of help with my worries and questions. I would do it over again in a heartbeat, and I am just a beginner. Don't ask or listen to people who have not been through it. I suffered my entire life (I'm upper 50's) with fighting it. I'd like to enjoy life to it's fullest, and now I have the opportunity.
Here's to your good health!
I felt exactly the same as you. I ended up putting off surgery for 5 years. I wasted those years. Threw them away. Years that I could have been healthier and more active. In retrospect, it was incredibly foolish.
Do it now. The chances that you'll lose significant weight and keep it off are vanishingly small.

Man, me too! I did a VLCD and lost 100 lbs, then while I was in the process of going off the rails and gaining it back, I had an RNY consult but decided not to follow through. "I did it before, I can do it again!" Ugh! I think I wasted about five years, too. You think we can petition to get those years back?? :D

I know, right?
Some people dive right in, but most were like you and me. And oddly enough, 5 years of delaying surgery seems to be the number most people come up with.
But even if I had done it 5 years sooner, I might not have been as successful. I guess it all worked out.
