Can't tell when full? Don't want to stretch stomach
Hello so I can't tell when I'm physically full. I can tell by hunger cues--sometimes... but that may be after I've eaten too much. I get pains periodically. I don't eat beyond my clinics proportions. I eat every 3 hours and drink a cup of milk in between(while drinking water) Especially with getting slightly hungrier and being able to eat all of my fruit and vegetables in a day, I find that I have to break my usual 3 hours food and milk in between schedule that guarantees that I will only have a cup of food in my stomach at 3 hours.
my clinic says it's difficult to stretch a sleeve. I feel everyone else is saying otherwise. They approve of my timing to keep from having too much food in my stomach at once.
i have severe anxiety and excessive worry so I can't tell if I'm being too anal about this and need to relax?
i get stomach pains sometimes , went for a gastroscopy and they said I had gastroenteritis. However I worry they're sometimes because too much food was in my stomach when I went to eat again.
*i do not eat beyond portion size or out of the clinics diet-I just don't want to have too much food in me and stretch my stomach because I can't tell how much is in there physically and my hunger cues aren't the best indicator.
how do you all do it? I can't tell by physical stomach sensation.
sorry if the post is hard to understand!! I have cognitive issues, please understand and help me thank you and I hope you all have had a nice healthy day!!
So sorry you are going through this.
I had my VSG just a few days after you. I can definitely tell when I'm full, and when I'm about to be too full. What that has enabled me to do is visually assess the amount of food I put on my plate before I start eating each meal. That along with measuring the portions of everything I eat (and logging them) is keeping my consumption levels in check.
It sounds like you've already conferred with your doctor about portion sizes. Armed with that information, weigh your meals out and don't exceed those portions. It's ok if you don't feel stuffed. If you are following the doctor's instructions, you should be getting the nutrition you need.
To be honest - 1 cup of food seems like a lot to me at three months out. Depending on the food, that would be close to twice what I'm able to consume in one sitting at this point. Yesterday I had my protein in and really wanted some brussels sprouts - the 3/4 cup I portioned out was way too much for me.
Hopefully you have diminished hunger as a result of the surgery at this point. If you are still struggling with head hunger, I know many here would suggest discussing that with a therapist.
Thank u so much for your kind reply
i worry about bout not feeling full enough because I went through a program for binge eating a year before and they made sure I always had to feel properly satiated. So that's why also this is important for me and I risk being stuffed
What are you eating? What are your portion sizes?
You really shouldn't be eating to the point that you're full, so that's a good thing?

They say I should feel fullz
i eat in the recommended serving sizes. Usually 1/2 cup measurements.
You shouldn't be eating so much that you feel full and if your plan tells you otherwise, it's wrong to do so. It takes 20-30 minutes for the brain to get the signal from the stomach that you're full, so if you eat to the point that you feel full, you'll have already overeaten.
This is why it's important to measure what you eat and then only eat what you've measured.
You're 4 months post-op, so 1/2 cup per meal seems like a good serving size. I weigh my portions and aim for 4 ounces at each of my meals. Feeling full is definitely never my goal. When I do feel full, it means I've eaten too much.

I am 16 months out
ny clinic is confusing for me and they keep saying what I'm doing is okay that's why it's still an occurring issue but I feel they're wrong
I eat a cup of food exactly measured every 3 hrs.
doctors says my stomach can hold one cup now.
I'm confused. Earlier you said 1/2 cup.
Even if your stomach can hold 1 cup that doesn't mean you should be eating 1 cup. Again, full should not be your goal.
