Back at home after the surgery and finally feeling a bit better today
After my surgery on Thursday morning I went to a hotel near the hospital late that afternoon. I have mostly been sleeping until today. I left for home Friday morning and the ride was a little rough but I made it. I have been having issues trying to get liquids down and it hurting so much even with tiny sips. I think that is mostly going away today and I am starting to get fluids in again.
Anyway, I survived! More details and some questions coming soon I hope. Gotta figure out what kinda liquids I am going to be trying to get down now.
Thanks,
Dwayne
Glad you're home!
Push the fluids as much as you can. You'll never feel well until you drink enough. SF popsicles saved me at first.

Keep an open mind with your liquids..it might take some trial and error to find what agrees with your tummy as far as temps/flavors. For me warm or room temp liquids were easier at first. Now I don't mind things icy cold. I particularly liked sugar free hot chocolate with protein powder added (I wasnt a hot chocolate drinker before so this was weird to me). Some people notice changes in their tastes, some don't. Just find what works for you and sip, sip, sip.
Hi Dwayne-
Glad to hear all went well and you're home. Try all different temperatures on the liquids. Chicken broth may work better than cold water. Hopefully, you'll find something that goes down easily.
I wish you the best. Remember to take it slow and walk as much as you can.

Try different temperatures for liquids. Some people have an easier time with hot tea or warm broth than cold water.

Are you taking a PPI such as prilosec or nexium? Most of us take one for the first few weeks post-op. Call your surgeon's office and ask.
