What were your most common mistakes starting out?

To me it has become a big motivator. I decided to take such a drastic step to get my weight in order, so it's pretty sobering when I think about it. It makes me want to stay true to my diet. Why would you want to go through all that surgery for nothing after all! It is still a struggle to beat old habits, but before I struggled to even try. Now I am very conscious of my bad habits and actively thwarting them. I look forward to seeing how you do! I had zero issues through surgery. Barely any pain as well. I hope you have it the same way!

My biggest problem is I get wrapped up in something and forget to eat or drink. Yesterday I only had a burrito and had to power down 60oz of fluids between 9-10 last night. I woke up 3 times to pee...

I don't think I could drink 60 oz in an hour if my life depended on it!! Kudos to you!

Same here. It takes me the morning at work to get in my 24oz and the afternoon for another 24oz and after dinner for my last 24oz. If my day gets skewed all bets are off!

My biggest problem besides the last bite syndrome was constantly stepping on the scale. Every morning I was checking it. I'd get on and off it two or three times to make sure it was correct. I'd be so upset if it didn't budge or it only went down a half pound. I've now learned to back that down to twice a week.

I have made it an effort to avoid the scale. I try to only weigh every 2 weeks or so. I've cheated a bit, like this week I weighed twice, but I'm so close to being into the next weight number that I'm excited

Biggest mistake that I haven't seen addressed here: thinking that I had all the answers, and that surgery was a cure.

  1. Eating too fast.
  2. Not paying attention to when my stomach first indicated it was not going to tolerate whatever it was I just ate. For example, scrambled eggs that are very cooked KILL my stomach still. Early out the intial little bit of cramping was ignored. No longer.
  3. Calories creeping up and not realizing it due to being too lazy to weigh and track.

I had to really slow my eating down as well. My body tells me when I'm eating too fast and it's very miserable, I'm sure you know!
