I'M SO EXCITED!!!

I signed with Dr. Reso in Calgary today, what a lovely man he is (and not hard on the eyes either...). He answered all my questions and more before I even needing to look for my long question list, we had a really good and honest conversation about what to expect from the surgery and why he thought I would be better suited to the sleeve vs RNY. I've still got a while on the wait list but it'll be done by year-end at the latest but more likely mid to late summer.

I finally feel like the journey is properly starting, I'm so grateful to all you regular posters that keep me motivated day after day, I've already learnt so much from here and I'm still pre-op. I feel like I've found my new family and will be sticking around here for the long haul.

Great opportunity to create new lifestyle habits like eating your protien first, chewing each bite 20 times, and stop drinking with meals. It is good when these become second nature before surgery so you can deal with all the other changes as well.

That's wonderful to hear! It's an amazing journey and you will be surprised at how fast the time goes now that you are on the track for surgery. I would suggest to try to start some exercise if you haven't already and focus on protein and lower carbs. CONGRATS!!

Thanks everyone.

I'm heeding all the good advice. I've got my water intake up to a steady 70fl oz per day minimum, protein, which I didn't realise was so low 6 months ago, is now sitting around 60 -80per day.

Carbs I've lowered but still unsure what I should be aiming for? I'm still trying to get my head round simple and complex carbs but have been actively working on replacing them. I've made and frozen large batches of Eggface's crustless quiches for lunch rather than the sandwiches or pasta I used to have (and they are SO good!), and I now make cauliflower pizza crust (also really good) as well as a load of other things that have been mentioned on the board. I've seriously reduced the amount of pop I have and moved it on the 'Zero', it was difficult at first but I'm use to it now. I really didn't realise how many calories I was drinking...

My team are incredibly pleased with my progress, they said I'm well informed and educated on what is happening and what I should be doing. I gave a lot of the credit to this place (she actually wrote the site down to recommend to other patients) and I said the vets here give good but honest advice, and won't pander to a newbie thinking of doing stupid stuff.

So again, thanks to all of you. I'm a bit of an introvert so don't often post, but I'm a constant reader.
