Straws VS. Sports Bottle Tops
Hello!
I've read quite a lot of info online and on OH regarding straws. I understand it introduces too much air in the stomach causing pains.
What about sports bottle tops? I've been trying to stay away from straws to get used to not using one.
Thank you!

Straws don't cause trouble for everybody. I've personally never had any difficulty using them! Why not give both straws and sports bottles a try to see how things work out?

I will test them both out after surgery. I'm pre-op, in the program, and working my way through the checklist.
It's the little things that keep popping up that I have questions about. I thought I would have questions about things like "can I have a bite of cake?", but nope...it's things like "Can I use a straw?"
LOL!

There will be a lot of little things that will come up like this. Chewing gum, straws, taking pills or capsules, sleeping on your side or back, etc etc. Generally speaking, if they irritate you, stop. Things that seem like issues right now really aren't.
Keep asking. You'll be fine.

I am really really good at not swallowing air when using a straw. I assume most people are.
My doc said no straws but suggested we use a camelbak water bottle. I pointed out that a camelbak was simply a water bottle with an attached straw and he was a bit perturbed at me.
