Talking to my doctor about about VSG
My PCP didn't know where to refer for WLS, other than a local program, but agreed that it was a good idea and that he would support me on it. I had to find out from insurance which programs were covered and what the criteria was. Turned out that I needed 6 months of medically supervised weight loss. My PCP ended up covering the first half with the WLS surgeon the second half. So it was a team effort that successfully got me to WLS.

My insurance doesn't cover bariatric AT ALL. I paid cash and went to mexico and had a WONDERFUL experience with an excellent doctor. The hospital was cleaner than any I have ever worked in (I'm a nurse) in the United States. So there are many options.
Same story here!
I am back from a very successful appointment! I went in with prepared notes and then didn't even need them. I described how I'm feeling, how long I've struggled with this, and why I want VSG. I even outlined my research. She said I'm actually an excellent candidate and gave me a referral to a local program with a wonderful reputation.
