I don't know what causes it, but I need to take miralax daily since surgery. I'm not sure why.
I take a half dose of miralax every day and it solves the problem.
best wishes,
Carol

Is their Iron in your pill as well? Iron also causes constipation. When I was a few months out, I brought up to my doctor that I coundnt go and was constipated. he told me that I should not expect to go daily anymore as I am not eating enough to warrant it and two, the make up of what I was now eating wouldn't produce it. However, I am now 3 years out, and as I can eat more foods and take more in, I go roughly every 2-3 days. When I cannot go, and I know I am bloated, I will take a Senekot down, and it helps.
