extreme fatigue 10 weeks post op
Anybody have extreme fatigue where you can sleep 17 hrs + a day this late after surgery? Not use to this fatigue. Everything has been cleared by medical doctor. Stumped and tired!

Yup, I slept almost nonstop for months after surgery. Up at 7, nap as soon as I came home from work at 6, up for an hour or two, and then right back to bed. I felt like I'd been hit by a bus!
Have you had your labs checked yet? Vitamin deficiency can cause serious fatigue. Some people are just slow healers, though, and I'm one of them.

I am only 3 weeks post op but I totally know how you feel. My doctor said it would get better. Take your vitamins.
I was extremely tired (to the point where I was taking naps during the day when possible****il I could start getting a decent amount of protein in my diet. I started drinking an Isopure Zero Carb drink (40grams of protein in a 20 oz drink @ only 160 calories) each day and once I was on soft foods, it got even better. As long as I stayed on top of my protein intake, the exhaustion diminished.

These people who bounce back two weeks post-op baffle me, for it took me a good six weeks before I felt more like myself again and 8 weeks before I returned to work. I wouldn't be too concerned, except to not push yourself too hard. We make like it's no big deal around here, but you did go through a major surgery.

I went to work 2 weeks after surgery. During the first 4 weeks of surgery I would come home and go for a walk, eat dinner, and then bed. I was tired. I had enough gas in the tank at work to not feel like curling up in a corner and napping, but by dismissal (3:30) all bets were off. It will get better. Your body needs a ton of rest to heal. I have had a more than a dozen major surgeries over the last couple of years and it is always the same. i have learned the first week out from surgery to not fight it and just sleep :)
