Cereal & Oatmeal
What bufflehead said. Just because it's OKAY to eat cereal and oatmeal now (e.g. mushies), doesn't mean it's recommended for optimal weight loss - let alone required. Especially when there are so many other, better options out there. The clinic's nutritionist should maybe be consulted....

It has been almost 23 months since my surgery & although I would still like to lose another 5 lbs, I am working to primarily maintain my weight.
My nutritionist's recommendation has been to stay under 20 grams of carbs at any meal. So, I will allow myself to have a 1/2 cup of Kellog's protein cereal as a snack at night (on rare occasions) & do use oatmeal in some recipes (like cottage cheese oatmeal pancakes or as a binder in meatballs or meatloaf). I will also have an occasional sandwich, english muffin or hamburger roll but only a low carb/calorie variety (like Healthy Life brand or Peppridge Farms light style whole wheat). I also use lentils, barley or beans in soups (I make from scratch), snack on edamame & will have sweet potato or quinoa (in limited quantities). I stay away from white potato, breads, pasta & rice.
I'm also a believer that not all carbs, like calories, are alike. So at this stage, keep them as low as you can & choose wisely.
