I eat butternut squash, but like sweet potatoes, in small quantities because of its high carb content and its "slider" qualities. Lots of sleevers use butternut squash in roasted vegetable combinations and in place of nutritionally-deficient pasta in lasagne recipes. As with sweet potatoes, your nutrition won't suffer if you eliminate winter squash from your diet. But it does taste good and adds variety to your diet. Your decision, of course.

I just asked my Dietitian about potatoes on Tues. and she said to limit because of the carbs.  She said sweet potato is more beneficial because of the nutritional value.  Hope this helps.

I thought about eating a veggie once. The feeling passed pretty quickly.

By the way, that's one more time than I ever thought about voting Republican.

Vegetables > Republicans. An interesting comparison.

At least vegetables are non-partisan, except for broccoli.

Cruciferous vegetables are full of hot air, too.

I do eat vegetables frequently, myself, all low carb ones.  I always get protein done first, though, because I do poorly with under 65g a day (and always have).  Everyone is different.

I do also think that very high carb diets should also be contraindicated for WLS patients, but a few cups of cabbage and kale a day is nowhere near high carb.

I follow a ketogenic diet post-op. I also have a diagnosis of binge eating disorder. Feel free to ask me about either!

Haha.  Well, I don't eat that much nearly.  I meant, even if you did eat something ridiculous like 8-10 cups, that's still well under 50g of carbs.

A few cups of cabbage and kale a day would make anyone sick! But in small quantities and prepared with the right fats and seasonings, mmmmmm. I'm of German descent, so loving cabbage is in my genes.
