Greetings from Los Angeles
HI VSG Forum,
My name is Robin and I'm having my surgery on 11/14/16..two days after my birthday. I'm looking at this as out with the old, in with the new. I had the lap band about 9 years ago, kept it in for about 5 but ultimately it was not successful. I don't think I found a comfortable point of restriction from day 1. I had the band removed in 2012 and of course gained everything back..plus!! I've had a really rough year and a half and really let everything go. My mom passed away unexpectedly 5/5/15, two months after that my sister was diagnosed with non-hodgkins lymphoma (tumor pressed against her spine) but thankfully she is cancer free now but our father passed away on 7/10/16. So, now I'm trying to focus on me. I'm just afraid I'll feel sick and throw everything up like I did with the band. I was very diligent about what I ate...but should have started exercising earlier on....will try better this time.
I'm just looking for a little support here and also would like to know if there is anyone in the Los Angeles area who's had the VSG.
Thanks for listening,
Robin

Pretty good. Surgery day was no fun, was more uncomfortable than I wanted to be. I slept 12 hours between noon Wednesday and 4AM Thursday, but I haven't taken much pain medication since then. Today I am really tired, my stomach is a bit upset (just started back on protein drinks yesterday, and medicines today). I can walk without pain. I am able to take in 3-4 oz of liquid per hour with little issue. I just need to stop about an hour before I go to sleep or else I get that crushing 'full' feeling in my chest.
I really think I could have gone to work today and been 100% productive. The whole being-unable-to-drive-right-now thing makes it a bit more difficult (doctor's orders).
Two of my incision sites are sore still (if I poke them, they don't like it). I'm pretty sure I'm not supposed to poke them however.
Oh, I still have a nasty bruise where I caught my first heparin shot on Wednesday.
