Exercise workouts
So what do you do for exercise?
I joined Planet Fitness (it is CHEAP) and have started doing more weights. My son learned a lot about weight training playing football, so I said I'd try it. I am going 3 to 4 times a week. Need something for off gym days, any suggestions?
My workout today was:
hip inductors inner and outer (30lb) 20 reps 3 sets
glutes (40 lb) 10 reps 1 set per leg. ( have a torn meniscus in knee this one is hard on it
ab coaster (30 lb) 20 reps per side Ab's, 50 for front
Back extensions (30lb) 20 reps, 3 sets
torso twist (30 lb) 20 reps 3 sets
abdominal (30lb) 20 reps 3 sets
leg press (40lb) 20 reps 4 sets
cardio: recumbent bike 30 minutes - did 4.41 miles. Only cardio that doesn't hurt the knee :)
My exercise schedule is as follows -
Monday - yoga or weights
Tuesday - running and yoga stretching
Wednesday - pilates class
Thursday - running and yoga stretching
Friday - pilates/yoga hybrid class, tai chi class, pilates class
Saturday - yoga or weights
Sunday - running and yoga stretching
My recommendation for non-gym days is yoga and/or pilates.

I got a subscription to YogaGlo and I absolutely LOVE it! I can find something to do in the evenings, and pick something based on body part, difficulty level, and how much time I have. Definitely worth the monthly subscription fee.

For yoga and pilates, it's best if you start out with a class - a good teacher will be able to give you modifications based on your specific needs and, after you get a handle on things, you can bring that back to a home practice.
I also find that using a pilates mat works better than a yoga mat, as pilates mats are thicker.

I got a bike and have been riding it a couple times a week for about 5 miles. It's pretty easy on the body and several miles only takes 30mins. I feel pretty great after doing it and it's just as fun as when you were a kid. If the weather is good in your area maybe a bike might be great cardio for days your not lifting.

The cake is a lie, but Starbucks is not.
I do the Beachbody exercise videos. I like that I roll out of bed, 30 minutes (mostly) and I'm done. I can check it off my list. That is not to say I don't take a walk around the neighborhood... Summer is for swimming. I do water aerobics at the Y when visiting my son. I have a rebounder trampoline I can jump on while I watch TV. I did an 8 week Martial arts Krav Maga class...
I mostly do the 21-day-fix (with modifications on many exercises) has cardio days, weight days and a pilates and yoga day. nice mix (7 workouts)... didn't like 21-day-fix extreme- too much jumping on these old knees... Also Did 22-minute hard Corp and Cize dance video... liked both of those too. I like to mix it up.
I try to think long term with the exercise... it is a lifestyle change too. for me I think, will I go to the gym forever? Is that a good fit? My answer for me is no. So I try and stay active, but change it up.
