scars
what do you all use to lighten your scars from surgery? im 1 yr post op almost and they are getting darker as the weight Is coming off.

Mine have pretty much disappeared, and I never used anything. I can barely tell where one incision was, but the others are invisible.
I think time is the only thing that will make a difference.
6'3" tall, male.
Highest weight was 475. RNY on 08/21/12. Current weight: 198.

Mine faded quite a bit by the year-and-a-half mark. I have scars from lap gallbladder surgery several years before my VSG, and they were completely faded at about 3 years out.
If you're self-conscious about them, you can use something like Mederma cream, or silicone sheets meant for scar treatment. I used the cream on a few acne scars on my face, and I did notice a bit of a change after 6 months or so.

sometimes we don't heal as well as others and got dark scars.. or too large scars. in some situations taht can be addressed and helped by a doc.. I think dermatologist may help if your scars are really abnormal. you may ask your PCP to look at them next time you see him/her.
