VSG in Tijuana with Dr Garcia Sep 27th
I can't believe I'm doing this...I only decided three weeks ago to go ahead after saying for many years (and many diets) that I would never do surgery. I hate to go to a cliche but "never say never". It is all happening very fast. OMG!!! I'm blown away by the successes of all the people already on this journey. Thank you for sharing! I will do the same on the flip side. Anyone else going in next week?
Congratulations on your upcoming surgery. I use to say I'd never do something like this either. Pfft. I'm curious, and I'm certainly not knocking Mexico surgeries, but, what do you folks do for follow-up care afterwards? What if there are complications? I see my surgeon every few weeks now and I just look forward to going in and showing him my results. A pep rally session is mostly what it amounts to.
If there were complications while in Mexico, Dr Garcia is a very competent surgeon and would take care of me. If something happens when I get home, I would go to my local hospital where I would get great care and actually be covered. I'm not at all worried about it, even worst case scenario. I thought a lot about it (and researched thoroughly) and went to one of my values of "not doing fear". That would have been the one reason to not proceed, and since I believe fear is NEVER a reason not to do something, I'll dive in.
Mexican physicians are trained by high North American standards and I hear the staff are very lovely and facilities immaculate - by many people. Thank God for the testimonials from those that have done this.
For follow up care, my family doctor is on board...she's fantastic, gave me a big hug the last time I saw her when I was crying about my pannus lol. We have great specialists locally. I'm going to find a psychologist who specializes in eating disorders. I thought I'd be great mentally, but after a big emotional meltdown I had last night, I do need professional guidance. Sheesh I haven't cried like that in years. Also a close friend had the procedure in Mexico in February...she'll be great for questions and support. It's been fun watching her success.
Great questions, thanks for asking. I had the same ones myself.
Congratulations on your upcoming surgery!?
