I accidentally drank some soda

How does one "accidentally" drink soda? I don't know. I wasn't thinking. I was just going to have a taste of root beer from a root beer float at the Renaissance Festival. Just a little bit. I was thirsty, though, and a sip turned into a gulp. I wasn't thinking about carbonation, I was thinking about having a taste of a treat.

Then it hit me. Soda.

I got the slimies like mad. I've only had them two other times - once in the hospital after having a spoonful of broth, and once at home a week ago when I drank some water too soon after I ate (again, I forgot). I got dizzy and had instant pain. Those times were not comparable to what I was experiencing. The slimies were such that I was starting to have trouble breathing, the whole time thinking, "How could I be so stupid!?" I didn't know what I was going to do. Throw up? Pass out? I wanted to curl up in the fetal position, but given I was at an extremely muddy festival among a bunch of people, that was not an option. I got up and started walking, which helped immediately. I belched twice and the slimies ceased.

Let that be a lesson to all you who haven't been sleeved yet. Think before you drink!

Does anyone else have sleeve-related accidental food/drink anecdotes? Any "oh crap, what did I just do" moments?

I was either at lunch with a coworker or maybe dinner with my wife, but I ordered my water and once it was brought immediately started drinking from the straw. I did it a few times (different occasions) with no issues, but once I realized what I was doing I took it out and put on table. I'm much better at doing that immediately now.

I drink from a straw a lot... so far, I haven't had an issue at all... but I've already decided that will be a rule I'm not following. I'm rebellious like that.

I think because it makes no sense to me. I slurp a lot when I drink from a glass, particularly if I'm moving/walking/biking/etc... so what's the difference??

Ya, I was talking to my wife about it this weekend. She said she always sips, exhales the air in her mouth and swallows. I told her I dont believe her. I sip, swallow sip sip swallow... Dunno.

I was more concerned about it at the time, but not really anymore. :P

I have no idea. I accidentally drank from a straw recently as well. I didn't realize it until I'd sucked down a glass of iced tea (over the course of an hour). I didn't have any pain and didn't need to burp, so I'm not really sure why straws aren't okay if tolerated.

OK so I haven't been sleeved yet (should be about 70 days eek).  We are never able to have carbonation? Still doing my research.
