One year out since hitting goal
It was actually yesterday, but hey I'm close. So I made it to 4 pounds below goal and now I've settle about 4-5 pounds above goal. I'm pretty comfortable but really have to be very aware of what I eat to maintain here. I'm 5'9" and 195 and eat about 1,800 calories a day with quite a lot of walking involved. I still use myfitnesspal everyday and its the best thing to keep me accountable. I've logged in 695 days in a row now and its part of every day.
My life is complex, possibly divorcing, work a lot of hours, grown kids moving away, so all of my problems didn't disappear when I had this surgery done. But I've learned not to stress eat, and my health isn't one of the things that I worry about. I also have lots of energy to put towards these other daily issues.
I have absolutely no food issues (as far as being disagreeable). If anyone is considering this, I would strongly recommend it. It has changed my life.
Anywho, just wanted to check in. I hope all is well with everyone.
Good job keeping the food demons in check. Keep after it.

M1 -24; M2 -21; M3 -19; M4 -21; M5 -13; M6 -21; M7 -10; M8 -16; M9 -10; M10 -8; M11 -6; M12 -5.
When I start to get stressed, happy, emotional, I find myself getting up and I'm searching for something and I figured out its food. So now I have learned to recognize the feeling. At work, I get up and grab a glass of water, walk to the next floor and make small talk for a minute and very shortly there after, it passes. It takes awareness and discipline. Also, I'm not perfect, so each week I buy two stalks of celery and I clean them and cut them up. I put one bag in the refrigerator at home and another in my refrigerator at work. If all else fails, I eat that....no harm no foul. Good luck!
Thanks for the great update! Glad to hear all is going well in the weight department. I am impressed by how well you are managing through the struggles of life changes without reverting back to life long habits centered around food. We all could read a page out of your playbook on navigating life!
Congrats on a great first year of maintenance.
