Clothing Size Crack
Here in Oklahoma City (and I know other places), we have, in addition to Goodwill, privately owned consignment stores with really nice stuff. I've been hitting those up, as well as Goodwill, Ross, TJ Maxx, and even Target. Oh, and my other closet with clothes that were too small on me.
I've made a rule though, I won't buy anything unless I really LOVE it. When I was in an 18/20 pant and 2-3X shirt, I'd buy whatever fit that was just "OK"... now I have to love it to buy it.

I'm definitely interested in the capsule wardrobe concept of only buying what you love. After years of buying something just because it "fit", I'm pretty excited about it, actually. There are many things I have doubles of or one in each color because it was so difficult to find clothes. It's hard out here for a short, fat girl.
I'm in the liquid diet phase (surgery 8/23) and I've already lost nearly 15 pounds and was having the same issue with clothes. I ended up going on fullbeauty.com and womanwithin.com and shopping their clearance dresses. I ended up ordering the ones with no waistband/easy to wear so that they'd last me a good while in the weight loss process. And the prices were pretty reasonable, especially on clearance. Looking forward to more issues with clothes though! That means I'm losing! :-)

I've been shopping clearance racks at Nordstrom Rack, Ross and Marshalls. In fact I just picked up a pair of jeans at lunch time today at Nordstrom Rack for 9 bucks. Also found great work pants at Macy's online - every day price is 30, and I've bought twice on sale for 20. I'm going for having a few pairs of pants that fit well, and wearing them over and over - I'm doing wash mid week to make them last. I have three work pants and two jeans right now that I wear.
Good luck!

This is what I opted to do. I found some pants on sale at Kohl's and now have enough to make it through a work-week if I wash on Wednesday evening. Yoga pants on the weekends, FTW.
Thanks to all who've added suggestions. I was able to find a couple of pairs of pants today at Kohl's, one a perfectly fitting size 14P and the other a pretty snug but workable 12P, both with some elastic in the waist. I'm thrilled with my purchases even though I didn't want to spend money on clothes. Unfortunately, going pantless wasn't an option. :)
