Drain tube incision after surgery

So I had gastric sleeve surgery on Friday and my drain was removed 3 days after. I am on day 6 post op and I am still sore on the left hand side where the drain was. I don't feel any soreness in my other incisions only the one that had the drain. Is this normal? Has anyone else felt some soreness from that area for a while? Thanks!

Yes.  I had my drain removed last Thursday and yesterday my Dr. removed the stitch that he left in place.  That hurt like crazy and it's still really sore.

This is a great question for your surgeon! Call the office and see if you can check with a nurse or PA; better to be safe than sorry.

Generally speaking, though, sore incisions are to be expected. If they're hot to the touch or oozing, though, there could be an infection and you should have things looked at.

What Sparkle said, and add to that if the area gets red... and then the red spreads.

I had two drains. They took the final one out on Friday. It still feels more tender than any of the other incisions. Good Luck to you!
