HELP!! I have 24 hours to make a decision!!! DESPERATE!!!
I haven't had surgery yet, but that's a good question. I had terrible acid reflux at night with the lap band. No problems before I was banded. my surgeon said either surgery also, but I'm afraid that even though I never had it before the band, I do worry about having it after I'm sleeved. As said by others, I'm OK with taking a PPI daily if it works for me. Good luck on making your decision b/c I need it too... lol
First, I would not rush into any surgery. If you need more than 24 hours take it.
Second, I had reflux a hand full of times in my life pre op. Post op I sleep with the head of bed elevated 9", take pepcid every night, sometimes tums and rarely reglan before bed. Still get reflux if I drink water to close to bedtime. Not trying to scare you, just telling about me.
Third, I would still choose VSG given the same facts at the time because of the intact pyloric valve. (search Frisco's Pyloric valve 101) Hope this helps.
