I just want to poop!
I am wondering about this also. I haven't had the surgery yet, but am in the process, I will have it by October. I am already starting out with bathroom problems. I am wondering if after this sleeve surgery, I can still take stool softeners and milk of magnesia because that is what I take now and it really helps. call your surgeon to see if your allowed to take anything, let me know what he says. Good luck, I know that's a horrible feeling!.
I spoke with my doc and he had me take Colace. I'm only 3 weeks post-op so I'm supposed to crush all my meds. He said Colace is the exception to the rule. It worked like a charm!
Best of luck with your surgery!
I'm having the same issues (3 weeks post op), and have tried all the suggestions posted here but finding water is critical. On the days I'm drinking enough things move, when I'm not, it doesn't.

Taking extra fiber when you are constipated is like putting sand into a blogged toiltet hopping the pressure would break the clog.
Stop fiber, increase Miralax...and once you get clean, slowly add little bit fiber at a time... Fiber needs a lot of water to get moist enough to help the BM. If you not drinking enough - you may end up with dry hard stuff in your bowels... Keep hassling and rubber gloves whr n you start going....you will need it...

Increasing fiber is always what works best for me... perhaps milege varies by user?

Fiber may work for some - and can make worse for others. (I am the other)

I had a similar issue post surgery, except I contacted my doctor after about 4-5 days of misery. He told me to take Milk of Magnesia. It worked well too. I only had to take it once. If you take it which I suggest. Stay at home. A single dose had me hit the bathroom like 4-5 times in a matter of hours. Good luck.
