water question
I don't know a lot about dehydration risks and how long stuff like that can affect you, but I do know that whenever I don't do well drinking plenty of water my weight loss slows way down.
Seems like proper fluid intake is crucial to your body working properly, especially when trying to lose weight.

You need more at first to heal. You also need more while you are burning fat, to get rid of waste products. In the future, you'll need more while eating a high protein diet. Protein needs extra water to process.

I think it was especially important in the beginning right after surgery to count how much water I was taking in. Drinking water at that point was difficult and if I had only drank when I was thirsty, I would not have drank any. I didn't even want to drink my Protein shake but I knew I had to.
