10 Days Post Op and Calories/Energy level
Well today marks 10 days sleeved. How many calories did you consume at that time and what was your energy level like? I took a short walk this morning and I went half the pace I could before surgery and I am just worn out. I knew that I would be a little weaker, but geez. I am running around 50 grams of protein and 700-900 cal over past 2 days. Wondering if this is normal...
Thanks,
P
You had a major surgery. You are still recovering...Your body is dealing with post op recovery.
The low calories are not as bad as dehydration.

I'm 16 days out, and just started on pureed foods. At 10 days, I was at 60 grams of protein and around 400-500 calories per day. I've been back at my desk job since just a few days after surgery, and I am walking 20-30 minutes three times a week. That's pretty much the most I can do right now. At my 2-week check up, the nurse assured me that low energy was normal. I noticed a huge difference when I didn't get enough protein - my energy level was nonexistent. I've been taking B12 and a multivitamin religiously.
All that to say, yes, it is normal, at least it is my normal.

yes it is normal
I started walking my dog again at 2 weeks post op. Its about 3/4 of a mile. I'm tiered by the end and I didn't used to be, and I'm walking slower too. Just give yourself time.

I can honestly say that I didn't have any energy for at least a month after surgery & at 10 days, I was told not to be concerned about counting calories. But, I can tell you that 900 calories at this point is high, especially if you are only getting 50 g of protein. You want to strive to eat foods that are protein dense which means that for every 10 calories you get 1 gram of protein.
Be sure to weigh, measure & most importantly record what you're eating (use an app such as myfitnesspal) and you'll do great!
I am only on puree and following my surgeons protocol. All protein comes from shakes and I'm doing what they told me to. I'm starting to question the post op protocol. What was yours like? He seems to be progressing pretty quick. I was supposed to try scrambled egg on day 8 but just didnt feel ready..
