Holy COW! 3.5 years and I finally hit NORMAL BMI!!! (pic too)
Wow, today I did the BMI calculator for my weight (lowest weight ever that I can remember) and I am in the normal range!!!! I still have about 13 pounds I want to lose but this makes me pretty stoked!!!
Thanks to so many of you because OH has been a HUGE part of my journey. I know quite a few people who have had WLS and don't use this board who have gained their weight back or never lost it. It bums me out. :(
Anyway, happy day!!!
Emily

Congratulations, Emily. You are looking great! It is so inspiring to see success stories like yours.
Remember that some of your excess weight might be loose skin. My surgeon removed 5 and a half pounds of skin when I had my tummy tuck!
best wishes,
Carol

Thank you, Carol!!
I want a tummy tuck more than you know!!! I do think there is definitely some poundage that can go with that lol. Did you save up for yours or do credit? (you can PM if you prefer). I want to do it so bad but it's $10000 and I am a single mom - so hard to see myself pulling the trigger on that, you know?
Hi Red,
I had my sleeve when I was in my 60's and my kids were grown and done with college, and I had a little nest egg to finance the surgery.
I am so glad I did the tummy tuck. After surgery my tummy looked like it did when I was 14, before the weight gain started. I posted pictures of before and immediately after surgery - You can see them on my profile. I should post another picture now, because the scars have healed so well. its great.
I knew I wanted to have the tummy tuck. I lost 225 pounds and I had A LOT of excess skin on my tummy. But I didn't anticipate how much happier I would feel about my body after the surgery. It was really a major boost to my self-esteem. (And I'm really not that vain! but it was more important than I imagined.)
In terms of cost, shop around. There are huge differences in what various surgeons charge. My first estimate was $15,000 for the fleur-de-lis tummy tuck. I found a wonderful surgeon who did the procedure for $7,800. He did a great job. I found him thru word-of-mouth - just talking to people and getting recommendations.
Also, I live in Massachusetts, where medical costs are high, so perhaps you can do better that $10K.
Best of luck,
Carol
