Howdy all. Surgery 2/3/16 and feeling bummed after Doc appt this month.
You lost a lot of weight pre-op. I would think that will effect your rate of loss since your body was already coping with reduced caloric intake.

25 lbs ain't no joke. Try lifting it up and carry it with you all day long, that is a LOT of weight! We all lose weight in different ways at different speeds. I lost 67 lbs in 4 months and all of a sudden I am standing completely still. We all go through stalls, we all go through periods where the scale doesn't move, and one person may lose a ton of weight at the beginning and another may go through it far more steady. It is not ok for your doctor to be so discouraging, you are doing awesome!!!

Thank you for the positive comments. I sure needed them after my doc appointment. I find myself overly invested in not disappointing him when I should be focused on me and the nuts and bolts of my program.
Hi Penny,
Sometimes it is helpful to consider the percentage of excess weight loss (EWL). For example, going into surgery I weight exactly 300 pounds, with my goal of 195 (the upper limit of a normal bmi for my height. So, 300-195= 105 pounds of excess weight. If I lost 25 pounds post op then that would represent 23.8% of my EWL lost (25 divided by 105 = .238, slide the decimal to the left two place values). I am not sure how much you EWL is, but given you are already under 200 I suspect your percent of EWL is actually pretty good.

Lol.. wow, that is a lot of math so early in the morning. You must be one very smart person. I am not sure what I want for my 'goal'. My surgery doc says around 125 since I am 5'2. My PC says around 180-150 since I am 66 years old. I say I just want to keep at this and do my best to get healthy and where I end up is where I end up as long as I no longer have all the health problems I had and OFF my CPAP. So I guess my goal is somewhere between 125 and 150/170.
So my surgery weight was 214, I lost 25 so it would be 217 - 25 = 192 so my EWL would be 13.0%??
Not quite- Take your surgery weight and subtract out your goal weight first. So 214-150-64. Then take what you lost (25) and divide by 64. So .39 or 39%. That is ALOT for two months!
