Having trouble eating slow

So I am just under 3 months out and my biggest struggle so far has been eating slow. At the beginning of every meal I tell myself to take a bite, put my fork down, look at something on my phone, etc., but then I end up doing it once and then scarfing the rest down. Then I get terrible pain and un-comfortableness. It feels like a hiccup that just wont come. I have tried timing myself, but my brain is still in this mode where I think "Okay, so I do not get to eat much, so when I do get to eat, I want it to be hot and fresh, so I need to eat now". I hate when my food gets cold and I have to microwave it. Then it gets all soggy and/or chewy.

Anyone have any tips/tricks for slowing down?I do take small bites at least, but where I should be around 20-30 minutes for 3 ounces of meat, I am more like 10-15 minutes :(

Thank you!

I have this problem too and it has caused pain and the foamies, even throwing up. I think I've finally gotten over the thinking that everything I eat has to be hot but still can't seem to eat slow enough.

Luckily I have never had foamies, nor have I have thrown up, but maybe I have had the slimies? lol I dont even know. I sometimes get something stuck in my throat that feels like I have to swallow but it will not go down. The weird thing is, I get this after drinking too fast, not eating. I am a freak of nature lol

I would eat over a 30 min time frame (sometimes 20-25 min) So I would divide my food into quarters.  The first quarter was eaten in 7.5 mins.  If I finished it sooner, I would have to wait until the second quarter to start the next portion.  Same with the third quarter and on to the forth.  95% of the time by the time I got to the 4th quarter of time and food, I wasn't able to finish what was on my plate.  Dividing helped me really slow down and listen to my body.

I used the Eat Slower app on my phone when I was teaching myself to eat slowly. I set the interval to 45 seconds between bites, and that worked well for me.

I wish I had advice for you! Unfortunately I was never able to get use to eating slow and I still haven't and I'm 18 months out. I would under eat sleeve and eat 3 ounces instead of 4. I never got that uncomfortable feeling by doing that. I wish I had good advice, but unfortunately I still struggle with this.

At least I know I am not alone :P Does eating too fast stretch the pouch? That is my biggest fear

I don't believe that eating too fast will stretch our sleeve, but I would be diligent about measuring and weight your food. Like I said under eat it by an ounce.
