Need ideas for things needed for newbie post op.
Trying to help a friend with ideas of what to get in preparation for their surgery. My surgery was many years ago, so I'm drawing a blank on what they should get. I was thinking different protein samples, vitamin samples, blender bottle/water bottle. Anything else you can think of that would be helpful pre or immediately postop?
Thank you!
I bought a kitchen scale to weigh my food, and I still use it daily. I bought a small blender and never used it. I also got some single-serving samples of protein drinks, but I found I couldn't tolerate sweet drinks after surgery so that was also a waste.
I did stock up on sugar free jello and puddings, and a good quality chicken broth and cream of veggie soups, and plain greek yogurt. That was helpful. I also got a tub of unflavored protein powder that I stirred into anything I could stir.
best wishes,
Carol

Cottage cheese, yogurt, SF pudding that you make yourself - don't forget the chicken broth or veggie broth - I didn't worry about sodium because heck, that was all I was getting. Hot/ice team (decalf) of course. Tell her best of luck!!

A few things most people forget:
- Loose clothing, like a baggy nightgown, that won't rub against your incision
- Suction-cup grab bar for the shower, since you may be wobbly
- Baby wipes or cleansing cloths since you can't shower for a few days, dry shampoo is good too
