My restriction has never been an issue, and that is even with my very large sleeve. Now if I eat constant carbs then like anyone else they slide through. Eating clean and protein forward though, fantastic restrition. Thank goodness. It has saved me more than once from completly losing all of the fantastic progress that I managed.

I am finding myself in that mind set as I reach goal.  I am 4 pounds away and it seems easier and easier to justify eating the junk I know I shouldn't.  Like my kiddos easter candy.  Ugg!! It might just have to disappear and since my husband and I seem to be eating more of it than they are I'm sure they won't notice!

Not sure if this will help you or not, but I used to have the kids put their Halloween candy in the freezer. Since that is in our basement it was just inconvenient enough to be out of sight/out of mind. Stay the distance to you hit goal, you will be glad you did. :)

I am very determined to reach goal. I rarely set goals but obviously did for this and I will reach it!!!

SURE! But honestly, like Alison, I don't need a reason. Rationalization can appear out of the blue.

I'm coming up on 8 months of very mindful eating and most of my regain is gone. I have 7 pounds to get to my initial goal. What I've noticed is that eating clean works better 95% of the time, but there is about 5% of the time that I'm tired of eating so clean and I do take a conscious break. I allow myself some freedom to eat more treat like foods. I'm very conscious about the choices I make and monitor my reaction both physically and emotionally to my food choices. This usually lasts about 3 days and then I'm done and I detox for a day or two and go on with it. This method would not work for everyone, but it is working very well for me. (Keep in mind that I work with an eating disorder specialist and a nutritional counselor, which adds another level of support for this type of eating flexibility.)

I have a similar approach, however, I am finding it is getting harder and harder to pull myself out of it. I think I need to work on a new strategy or risk sliding back into regain mode. I may end up seeking guidance from  an eating disorder specialist- it is getting to be enough of a problem that some fresh perspective might be useful. I can feel the hubby and I slipping back into our old enabling patterns.

I made weight loss surgery recipes,  mounted calories and filled up on those things.  There were days when lunch was high protein. Sugar free flour free cookies.

I always found something close enough to keep me satisfied without going back k to the  ad stuff.

If you never start the carbs you never have to detox.

I used to be much better about making really great substitutions. Ice cream for example was more than adequately replaced with my strawberry frozen yogurt via my Vitamix. I never went to replacing flour with carb friendly alternatives such as almond flour, but I think that is a great suggestion. It woud hurt for me to set a goal of 30 days to try to lose my taste for sugar, and the carbs from flour triggers that as well. Thanks for chiming in, it was helpful!

For anyone reading this, you can make your own almond milk and the byprodcut (left over pulp) can easily be dehydrated and turned into almond flour. You save a small fortune compared to buying crappy chemical filled almond milk and almond flour. :)

At over nine years out I still use substitute flours from a health store.  I will also buy Bob's Red Mill in the grocery store.

i believe wheat and sugar are root cause of obesity.  Now I am eliminating salt.  Getting rid of salt shaker and replacing with spices
