9 Month Surgiversary!!!
Dun...dun...duuuun! So I cannot believe it's here but today is my 9-month surgiversary! I remember doing my 2-week pre-op liquid diet and thinking how miserable it was, and how results seemed so far away, but it has all been so fast and wonderful! Without further ado, here are some progress pics, with my face blocked out for posterity, being that I'm in a bra and all.
As you can see in my signature, my highest weight was 348, the day before I started my 2-week pre-op liquid diet. On the day of surgery I was 326. Today, 9 months later, I weighed in at 206. 142 down from my highest, and 118 since surgery.
I have lost a TOTAL of 61 inches from my body!!!! The biggest differences being in my waist (-17") and hips (-14").
The pictures are fairly accurate (although my butt looks oddly low and flat in the first picture). I'm definitely starting to see more loose skin, and I have a prominent spare tire of loose panni tummy that has gotten worse, but I am NOT complaining. My insurance will cover a panniculectomy, which I do plan on pairing with some more aesthetical work at an extra cost. That's still a long way off though.
Right now, my goal is to be 160. That would put me right in the middle of a normal BMI. I am currently JUST overweight. Another shocker! I started this journey at a BMI of 50 - super obese.
I am still rocking my plan and eating low-carb, protein forward meals. I eat around 900 calories a day and I love every minute of it. I have had no negative reactions to food, and have not hit a stall once. I tell people all the time - I am already eating my forever diet! And that is totally awesome to me! Once I get to goal, I do plan on upping calories a bit and seeing where my happy zone is.
Being that goal is now within my view, I can't help but ask myself if I can handle ever just maintaining - like, most of my life, I have been focused on losing weight. I worry that this is going to be a very difficult mindframe to break out of...which then leads me to wonder if I will ever be content and feel "normal." I already feel great, fit, and healthy...Bah! Enough self-analyzing for now.
Basically, getting the sleeve was the best decision I could have made for myself and I love my new, smaller stomach. Can't wait to see where I'm at in another 3 months!
