Craving 5 Guys again- what the heck?

I don't mind the idea of a full fat burger, but I just don't think I can digest it at all post gallbladder removal. I truly didn't realize how much fat was in my diet until that was taken out, and I would get sick on just a little bit of fatty whatever. I always tracked on MFP, but didn't have it set to track fat intake. Now I know. It is going to be a long while before I can eat a 5 guys burger, if ever.

I ordered the same sandwich your friend did, and like him I felt totally duped. There is not one healthy choice at that place, so I feel grateful that craving one of those burgers only kicks in a couple times a year at best.

1st you got me turned on to the insta-pot and now you bring up 5 guys.  Next Monday I will be heading to Greektown and be having one of those minus the bun. Have mine wrapped with lettuce.

Love greektown, but I always go with a mediterranean option down there. Then, I spend the rest of the evening trying to avoid the bakery.

If I had to cut fat down to nothing, I'd be screwed. I probably average 75 grams a day, and it wouldn't be that unusual to hit 150 grams.

I'd be totally screwed.

I had my gallbladder out almost 20 years ago.  They warned me about eating fatty foods.  It's never had any effect on me.  Like most things, that advice just seems kind of hit and miss.

After every plastic surgery, I've gone through a phase where I just couldn't seem to get enough protein.  If a cow had been put in front of me, I would have tried to find a way to eat it.  And protein drinks weren't cutting it.  It had to be meat!  And then it passed.  Make yourself a little hamburger and see how your system handles it.

I get those craving around that time of the month.....I think that is common for most women! Most times I will modify what I'm craving and give in. I don't do it for days or anything like that, but I will do with an item I'm really craving. Its always usually something salty or meaty. I have in to it this past weekend. I had two sliders from Green Dot Stables and I modified them and I ate 1/2 of them bun. I didn't feel guilty as I'm not making this habit.

Did you do anything to satisfy your craving??

I did ask the hubby to make Goulash soup last night. I mentioned to go very light on the pasta. What he made was goulash, all pasta with a little meat. Couldn't really eat it unfortunately. So no, still jonesing for that burger. If I wasn't house bound by now I would have driven up to get one. Probably best I am housebound for a bit!

How about liver? I mean, it's gross in its pure form, but it makes a lovely pate and would really help your iron levels (if you think that may be driving the craving).

I've made this and it is amazing.

if beef liver is too much, start with chicken liver.

Oh holy hell, I could never do liver. Liver is the reason I went vegetarian for over a decade. In high school I had a seat front and center. The teacher dissected a liver in arms reach of my chair. I didn't touch meat for a decade, and still wouldn't eat it if my hubby wasn't such a meat and potatoes guy. I wish I could eat it though- it is supposed to be excellent for those of us a little low on iron. Ugh.
